Privacy Policy for Torchy

Parsiphal David Coletta ("I", "me", "my") built the Torchy app ("the App") as a free application. This Service is provided at no cost and is intended for use as is. This page informs users about my policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information in relation to the App.

Torchy is designed to function entirely offline and does not require user registration or account creation.

I do not intentionally collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data.

Specifically, the App does not collect:

• Name, email address, or contact information
• Location data
• Device identifiers or advertising IDs
• Usage analytics or telemetry data
• IP addresses or log data
• Photos, media, or files

The App does not transmit any data to external servers.

The App requests the following permissions only to provide core flashlight features:

• Camera - to access and control the flashlight LED
• Microphone - to detect sound levels for sound-activated flashlight mode
• Vibration - to provide haptic feedback
• Proximity Sensor - to detect when the device is covered (pocket mode / proximity lock)
• Foreground Service - to allow shake-based control while the app is in background
• Notifications - to show required foreground service notifications

These permissions are used only on-device. No sensor data is recorded, stored, or transmitted.

The App stores a limited amount of non-personal data locally on your device using shared preferences. This may include:

• User preferences (shake sensitivity, proximity lock, screen lock)
• Tutorial completion status
• Selected visual theme

This data:

• Remains exclusively on your device
• Is not transmitted or shared with the developer
• Is not accessible by the developer
• Is automatically removed when the App is uninstalled

Under applicable data protection laws, including the GDPR, such data remains under the sole control of the user.

The App does not use any third-party services that may collect data. In particular, the App does not use:

• Analytics services (e.g., Google Analytics, Firebase)
• Advertising networks or ad SDKs
• Crash reporting or diagnostics tools
• Social media integrations
• Cloud storage or backend services

The App includes optional links that open external websites in the device default browser (privacy page, developer page, Ko-fi page). Following these links is optional and handled by explicit user action.

The App may occasionally prompt you to rate it on Google Play using the rate_my_app library. This prompt is shown only after a minimum number of launches and days of use (thresholds stored locally). No data is transmitted as a result of this prompt. If you submit a rating, Google Play privacy policy applies.

The App does not use cookies or similar tracking technologies.

The App does not knowingly collect personal data from children under age 13 (COPPA) or under age 16 (GDPR), nor from any other users. The App is safe for users of all ages.

Since the App does not transmit or store personal data externally, risks associated with data transmission are minimized. However, users are responsible for maintaining device security.

I may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated Last updated date. You are advised to review this page periodically.

This policy is effective as of May 21, 2026.

Since the App does not process personal data, no legal basis for processing is required under the GDPR.
